About Me

I'm a Lutheran pastor, writer, and speaker who believes the Gospel isn't just good news — it's the only news big enough to change everything.I serve as a Senior Pastor, where I get to preach Christ crucified, raised, and reigning. I'm also the author of several devotionals and books, and a passionate advocate for Sunday afternoon naps. When I'm not writing sermons, I'm watching classic movies with my family, telling Dad jokes, defending the St. Louis Cardinals as God's chosen baseball team, and collecting entirely unnecessary trivia with alarming enthusiasm.

When God Shows Up In All the Wrong People

Scripture is full of people too flawed for a Sunday School lesson—a prostitute in Jesus' family line, a wise king who dies a fool, a disciple who denies Christ and is welcomed back beside a fire. This book steps into the Bible's unfiltered stories to reveal a God who has always worked through broken, failing, human people. If you've ever felt too far gone, these pages say otherwise.

Wholehearted Welcome in a Brokenhearted World

Rethinking Dinner Tables, Hospitality and Community, One Welcome at a Time

Somewhere along the way, we swapped genuine welcome for polished entertaining, and it's left us lonelier than ever. This book makes the case for a hospitality that needs nothing more than an open heart—no perfect home or curated table required. It's less a book about hosting and more about the kind of table God has always set.

It's an invitation to trade scarcity for trust, starting today.

Grace Under Fire

Faith That Flourishes In Hostile Times

From Roman arenas to underground churches to the quieter pressures of modern life, this book traces one consistent pattern: opposition has never destroyed the Church—it has refined her. Real courage, it turns out, has never depended on being liked. A bracing reminder that hostile seasons tend to ignite faith rather than extinguish it.

How Ancient Creeds Deepen Modern Faith

The words of the ancient Creeds can turn into background noise, recited without a second thought—but they were written by people willing to lose everything over them. This book unpacks those historic declarations line by line, showing how centuries-old words can still anchor a soul today. It's an invitation to know exactly what you're saying, and why it still matters.

Rejoice Always

Embracing Joy in a Happiness-Obsessed World

Happiness is fragile—it buckles under pressure and evaporates with bad news. This book explores something sturdier: a joy that held firm for the apostle Paul even while he wrote from inside a Roman prison. It's a case for joy anchored in Christ rather than circumstances, built to last when everything else gives way.

A Biblical Journey Through Spiritual Warfare from Eden to Eternity

This book traces the full story of spiritual warfare from the garden of Eden through the cross to eternity, helping readers recognize guilt, doubt, and temptation for what they are. A clear-eyed reminder that the victory was never about your grip on Him, but His grip on you.
